Electric Sport Car | Tesla | 2028
The Tesla Roadster is a next-generation, fully electric sports car designed to showcase Tesla’s extreme-performance engineering and advanced vehicle technology. Unveiled on October 15, 2026, the redesigned Roadster builds on the project first announced in 2017, introducing a substantially reworked design and experimental aerospace-inspired features developed in collaboration with SpaceX. Tesla demonstrated the vehicle using high-pressure cold-gas thrusters and a fan-based suction system for extraordinary maneuvers, although the road legality and production readiness of these technologies remain important considerations.
Tesla has presented three performance configurations: Performance, Thrust and Rocket. The Performance version targets road-focused driving, while Thrust adds cold-gas propulsion hardware. Rocket is the most experimental configuration, with additional thrusters designed to enable aerial movement; Tesla states that this version is not approved for public-road use.
The vehicle features a two-seat layout in the Performance and Thrust configurations, a driver-focused cockpit, steer-by-wire controls, active aerodynamic elements and a retractable rear wing. Tesla’s demonstration recorded a claimed 0–60 mph acceleration of 0.81 seconds, while the newly presented configurations carry different performance targets. Production is targeted for 2028, but final battery specifications, charging performance, dimensions, warranty terms and EPA-certified range and efficiency figures have not been comprehensively established. These details should remain unverified in the ChargeGuild catalogue until Tesla confirms production specifications.
